Finished reading: The Return of the King by J. R. R. Tolkien ๐Ÿ“š

Started this one off on audiobook then switched to physical near the end. I wish I had just stuck with physical the whole way through. I didnโ€™t retain much of what happened at the beginning ๐Ÿซค

Finished reading: The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolkien ๐Ÿ“š

So thatโ€™s why itโ€™s called the Two Towers! ๐Ÿ˜…

Finished reading: The Stand by Stephen King ๐Ÿ“š

I loved this book but itโ€™s hard to recommend such a tome. Iโ€™m being derivative and doing the book an injustice, but if you want Stephen Kingโ€™s take on a modern day Lord of the Rings - this is that book. The characters are memorable and human (well, most of them).

Finished reading: The Fellowship Of The Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien ๐Ÿ“š

Now I know why people get obsessed with this series/world. The setting is so well planned and developed. Little morsels of an ancient time. Also a good adventure story that involves an interesting hike.

Finished reading: The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ‘ฅ

Another interesting spin on the whodunnit genre. This one was a little convoluted at times but the bookโ€™s main โ€œmechanicโ€ gave a new way to tell these types of stories.

Finished reading: Upgrade by Blake Crouch ๐Ÿ“š

I think Recursion is a better book, but this one is almost as engrossing. Iโ€™d recommend it to anyone wanting to read a sci-fi page turner.

I finished Part 1 some time ago and then life got in the way of me finishing the rest in a timely manner.

Finished reading: The 6:20 Man by David Baldacci ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ‘ฅ

Read this for book club and we all concluded this was a book you pick up at the airport; itโ€™s entertaining but doesnโ€™t leave an impression. The author clearly had a series in mind and left a lot of questions unanswered. The protagonist basically said โ€œAw shucks! Weโ€™ll get โ€˜em next time!โ€ at the end.

Finished reading: This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ‘ฅ

Sci-fi love story presented as poetry. Difficult but rewarding read.

Finished reading: Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ‘ฅ

Finished at the beginning of the year. Modern take on classic whodunnits. Loved it!
